Neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation in populations treated for alcohol and/or polysubstance abuse; differential diagnosis; neurofunctional correlates of cognitive impairment in alcohol abuse; impact of parental substance use and related environmental factors on cognitive development.
Current Projects
Neurocognitive Rehabilitation in Alcohol Treatment (funded by NIAAA). This Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Scientist Career Development Award will support a five-year plan to develop Dr. Grohman’s skills and expertise in addiction research. In addition, it will examine the effect of neurocognitive rehabilitation on treatment and posttreatment functioning in alcohol dependent participants (in collaboration with Gerard J. Connors, Ph.D. and Robert Zivadinov, M.D. of UB’s Department of Neurology in the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences).
Parenting and Infant/Child Development in Alcoholic Families (funded by NIAAA). The impact of fathers’ alcoholism on parenting and developmental outcomes during the early childhood years (in collaboration with Principal Investigator Rina Das Eiden, Ph.D., and Co-investigators Kenneth E. Leonard, Ph.D., Ellen Edwards, Ph.D., and Craig Colder, Ph.D., UB’s Department of Psychology.)
